Colouring Tutorial- Gradient Style 1
Needs- a program with a gradient tool and a lasso tool
This is for larger pictures, that's why the Icon I'm working on looks iffy with this type of colouring O_O;;

Step 1: With your lineart done, fill in one of your colours.

Step 2: Using a selection or a lasso tool, select the area where the highlight would be.

Step 3: Make the colour that you filled in with at step 1 your foreground and background colour. Select your foreground colour and make it lighter. Choose the gradient tool and draw the gradient so the lightest bit is where the light source is strongest.

Step 4: And continue on in this fasion with all the main light sources!

This is the end product. It looks dodgy because the image is small, but if you use this technique on a larger picture, it'll work better =D
